Dahlia Rejmans Firecracker is a stunning fimbriata type dahlia. As the name suggests, it is an explosion of spiky fire coloured petals. Orange with speckles of yellow and red burst from the centre creating a firework shaped bloom.

It would be perfectly placed toward the middle or back of a bed or border. We would suggest you stake this variety to avoid heavy blooms being blown over.

This short video was taken on site at our nursery in šŸ‡¬šŸ‡§ Euxton, Lancashire.

The following Dahlias are very similar to Dahlia Reijmans Firecracker

Dahlia tubers can be planted 10cm deep in fertile well drained soil, outdoors in spring when the frost has passed, usually this is at the end of May, however in Scotland this is more typically early to mid-June. For rooted cuttings, wait a little longer – until the nights have warmed up. They love sun – find the sunniest place you can.

Improve your soil by adding organic matter, such as home-made compost or well-rotted manure, over the area youā€™re planting in. For tubers with shoots/potted tubers with shoots – spaceĀ about 60cm (2ft) apart; planting so the tubers areĀ 10-15cm (4-6in) deep. For rooted cuttings growing in pots -space a little closer at 50-60cm (20in-2ft) apart and the top of the compost in their pots is just a little (few mm) below the soil level.

Mulch after planting to conserve moisture. New shoots are vulnerable to slugs, aphids and even mice, so protect plants in their early stages of growth.

In areas where there is extreme cold, heavily mulch dahlias in Autumn & Winter.

Apply a high potash fertiliser every few weeks in the summer to help growth and they can be dead headed when necessary. Dahlia tubers can be planted 10cm deep in fertile well drained soil, outdoors in spring when the frost has disappeared.
