Dahlia Seeds
We have a lovely collection of dahlia seeds available to order all year round, so you can start sowing whenever the mood takes you. Growing dahlias from seed is one of the cheapest ways to fill your garden with masses of colour, and a single packet can produce dozens of plants for the price of just one tuber.
Many of our varieties are openly pollinated, which means you’ll get an amazing array of shapes, sizes and colours from every sowing. That’s half the fun. You never quite know what’s going to open next, and it’s not unusual to find a real gem among the seedlings that you’ll want to save and grow on year after year. Flower forms range from neat singles and collerettes to pompons and fully double blooms, in everything from soft pastels to fiery, jewel-bright shades.
Our favourites are Bishops Children. They never fail to please, with bright flowers in reds, oranges, pinks and yellows set against deep, dark foliage. They’re brilliant for borders, pots and cutting, and the dark leaves look striking even before the first flower opens. Pollinators adore the open, single blooms too, so they’re a great choice if you want a garden that’s buzzing from midsummer onwards.
